Fox has handed out a back nine order to their Matt Czuchry (The Good Wife, Gilmore Girls) fronted medical drama The Resident. The show’s second season will now consist of twenty-two episodes. That is up from the fourteen episodes that comprised season one.
The Resident follows an idealistic young doctor, Devon Praves, during his last few years of training. Under the supervision of a tough and brilliant senior resident, Conrad Hawkins, he soon discovers his chosen profession is not what he imagined and that ethical lines are often blurred.
The drama series is produced by 20th Century Fox Television and stars Matt Czuchry, Emily VanCamp, Bruce Greenwood, Manish Dayal, Shaunette Renée Wilson, Malcolm-Jamal Warner, Jane Leeves and Glenn Morshower. The executive producers are Todd Harthan, Amy Holden Jones, Rob Corn, Antoine Fuqua, David Boorstein, Oly Obst and Phillip Noyce.
“Amy Holden Jones, Todd Harthan and the amazing team behind The Resident have brilliantly offered viewers the ability to see the medical industry through a different lens,” said Michael Thorn, President of Entertainment for Fox Broadcasting Company. “We can’t wait to watch the exceptional cast, as they continue to roam the halls of Chastain Memorial Hospital.”
The Resident airs on this side of the pond on NBCU’s flagship channel Universal TV. The show’s second season is set to premiere on the channel this coming Tuesday (October 16th) at 9pm.
