Paloma Faith, Miriam Margolyes, Ben Bailey Smith, Tameka Empson and Bethan Wright have all signed up for guest roles on 101 Dalmatian Street, Disney Channel’s new animated series based on Dodie Smith’s novel and the Disney classic 101 Dalmatians.
101 Dalmatian Street is set in modern day London in the borough of Camden. The series follows the adventures of eldest siblings Dylan and Dolly, their parents Doug and Delilah, and 97 younger puppies, whose names also begin with ‘D’, in an epic comedy about family life, multiplied one hundred and one.
Paloma Faith has been cast as Portia Poodle, Miriam Margolyes as Bessie the Cornish Cow, Ben Bailey Smith as Sid Squirrel and Spencer Sausage Dog, Tameka Empson as Pearl Police Horse, and Bethan Wright as Prunella Pug. They join a large cast that includes Josh Brener, Michaela Dietz, Rhashan Stone, Ella Kenion, Rhys Isaac-Jones, Lauren Donzis, Abigail Zoe Lewis, Nefeli Karakosta, Florrie Wilkinson, Bert Davis, Kyle Soller, Akiya Henry, Nikhil Parmar, Jack Binstead, Maxwell Apple, Margot Powell, Agnes Peacock, Harriet Carmichael, Aimée-Ffion Edwards, Conor MacNeill, Daniela Denby-Ashe, Joshua LeClair, Rasmus Hardiker, Stephen Mangan and Rufus Jones .
101 Dalmatian Street is written by Maria O’Loughlin and directed by Miklos Weigert, with Cara Speller serving as executive producer. Passion Animation Studios, headquartered in London and employing an international crew of more than fifty artists, serve as lead producers for the series, with Atomic Cartoons in Vancouver providing animation services. It was developed by Disney’s UK-based original animation team working with Gigglebug Entertainment in Helsinki, who provided concept development and are creating short form and digital content to accompany the series. The series will be introduced with a special episode in December ahead of the season premiere in 2019. Disney has 10 x 2’ shorts, 40 x 11’ episodes, and 5 x 22’ specials. The UK premiere is eyed for spring 2019, and it will continue to roll out on Disney Channels globally throughout the year.
