W’s original drama series Women On The Verge will premiere on Thursday October 11th at 10pm, it has been announced.
From Lorna Martin and Sharon Horgan, Women On The Verge is set in Dublin and tells the darkly comic tale of three career-driven friends in their 30’s, at various stages of their lives, who share the same nagging concern – that whilst their friends and colleagues seem to be increasingly in control of their lives, their own lives seem to be moving in the opposite direction.
The drama series is produced by Merman and House Productions in association with Irish broadcaster RTE and stars Kerry Condon (Rome, Better Call Saul), Nina Sosanya (W1A, Last Tango in Halifax), Sharon Horgan (Dead Boss, Catastrophe) and Eileen Walsh (Catastrophe, Patrick Melrose). It is based on the best-selling book Woman on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown by Lorna Martin, which in turn was based on her much loved Grazia column ‘Conversations With My Therapist’. Horgan optioned the rights to the book back in 2011 and has been working to bring it to the screen ever since. The executive producers are Clelia Mountford and Sharon Horgan will for Merman, Juliette Howell and Tessa Ross for House Productions, and Commissioning Editors for Scripted Content Pete Thornton and Joe McVey for UKTV.
