Red Arrow Studios International has secured the global distribution rights to The Weekly, FX’s upcoming 30 episode New York Times documentary series. Hulu is also a partner, streaming episodes in the United States the day after they air on FX.
The Weekly is narrative documentary news program that includes one or two of The Times’s biggest and most important visual stories each week. will find the stories behind the headlines that would otherwise be left on the cutting room floor. The series is produced by The New York Times and Left/Right.
The Weekly marks the latest high-profile NY Times docu series and it comes on the heels of The Fourth Estate, which aired on BBC Two earlier this year. Red Arrow Studios International will launch The Weekly to international buyers at MIPCOM next month. “The mission of The New York Times is to help people understand the world”, said Sam Dolnick, Assistant Managing-Editor of The New York Times. “By partnering with FX and Hulu, now with Red Arrow Studios International, we are excited to bring quality, original journalism to the largest possible audience.”
