All3Media International has secured three early pre-sales for The Bisexual. The international distributor has licensed Desiree Akhavan’s Channel 4/Hulu co-production to the Canal+ Group in France, Sky in New Zealand and streaming service Stan in Australia.
“In The Bisexual, Desiree Akhavan gives us a unique and very honest view of contemporary dating”, said All3Media International CEO Louise Pederson. “It’s a testament to the quality of the show that major broadcast partners Canal+ and Stan have come on board at such an early stage alongside Channel 4 and Hulu, and we look forward to further deals over the coming months.”
Created by Akhavan, The Bisexual explores the difference between dating men and women from the perspective of a person who finds herself doing both. The comedy drama, which has an order for six episodes, is being produced by Hootenanny – a Sister Pictures company – and stars Desiree Akhavan, Maxine Peake, Brian Gleeson, Eva Birthistle, Saskia Chana and Michelle Guillot. Naomi de Pear is the executive producer. It was commissioned by Deputy Head of Comedy Nery’s Evans and Phil Clarke, Acting Head of Drama & Head of Comedy for Channel 4.
