5USA Sets Premiere Date For 'Castle' Season 8 – TVWise

The eighth and final season of Castle will premiere on 5USA on Wednesday October 3rd at 9pm, it has been announced.
Created by Andrew Marlowe, Castle follows best selling author Richard Castle who, under a prior agreement with the NYPD to observe and assist a detective squad, works alongside Detective Kate Beckett to solve some of the city’s strangest crimes. The drama series is produced by ABC Studios and stars Nathan Fillion, Stana Katic, Susan Sullivan, Molly Quinn, Jon Huertas, Tamala Jones and Seamus Dever.
Season eight marks something of a departure from the norm for Castle. Penny Johnson Jerald, who played Captain Gates from season four onwards, was all but fired from the series when ABC Studios walked away from contract negotiations and informed the actress that she would not be returning; while new cast additions include Toks Olagundoye and Sunkrish Bala. Elsewhere, series creator Andrew Marlowe, who stepped down as showrunner last season, has exited the show completely, as has fellow executive producers Terri Miller and David Amann. Castle veterans Terence Paul Winter and Alexi Hawley served as showrunners for the final season.
The opening episode of season eight, picks up from the season seven finale which saw Kate Beckett (Stana Katic) offered the opportunity to run for a seat in the New York State Senate, shortly after she passed the NYPD Captains exam. Castle and Beckett are adjusting to Beckett’s career change, when a call from a mysterious stranger sets off an explosive chain of events. There are two sides to every story, and this unique two-parter will explore the same story from each of their perspectives, first from Castle’s side as he searches for Beckett.
