UKTV has teamed up with The Great British Bake Off judge Paul Hollywood for a traveling cookery show, aptly titled Paul Goes To Hollywood. The series is set air on Good Food in 2019, followed by a repeat window on W.
The five episode series follow Paul Hollywood as he embarks on a road trip across the USA. Combining his passion for baking, biking and movies, Paul journeys across the continent on a Harley Davidson before he arrives in the ultimate movie mecca, Hollywood. Paul’s 3000-mile tour takes in culinary locations inspired by some of the most iconic films.
In Los Angeles, Paul samples the burgers in Bob’s Big Boy Diner, which appears in Pulp Fiction, and in New York it’s pizza in Lenny’s Pizzeria, well-known to film fans for Saturday Night Fever. Paul tries his hand at making a Honey Tart, a sweet dessert native to New Orleans and Cowboy Coffee Cake in New Mexico. Famous friends join Paul along the way for a slice of pie and a $5 shake. Denham Productions are producing.
“We are thrilled to be working with Paul Hollywood on this perfect combination of the nation’s love of travel, film and baking”, said Kirsty Hanson, Commissioning Editor at UKTV. “This series is packed full of adventure and fun and will make an excellent show for both film fans and foodies.”
“This is an exciting new look at food in the USA and the influence that Hollywood movie culture has had on its cuisine”, commented Vicky Walker, Channel Director for Good Food. “This adventure with Paul Hollywood will be a brilliant addition to Good Food’s growing slate of new shows.”
While Tris Payne, Executive Producer for Denham Productions, added: “We’re delighted to be working with one of the biggest names in TV for our new series for UKTV. With Paul’s talent and Denhams’ food and travel heritage, Paul Goes To Hollywood will be a road trip brimming with movie memories and some great food along the way!”
