Sky One’s A Discovery Of Witches will premiere on Friday September 14th at 9pm, it has been announced.
A Discovery Of Witches uncovers a secret underworld of extraordinary beings hiding in plain sight for fear of persecution by humans. The drama follows brilliant historian Diana Bishop, (Palmer), a witch denying her own heritage who uncovers an ancient, bewitched manuscript in the Bodelain library. This discovery throws her back into the mystical and supernatural world and into the path of the enigmatic vampire Matthew Clairmont (Goode).
What follows is a dangerous hunt for the precious, mystical document which draws her and Matthew closer together into a forbidden romance which threatens to violate age-old taboos and shake the fragile peace that exists between the species. The adaptation, which is based on Harkness’ trilogy of novels, was penned by Kate Brooke (Mr Selfridge) and is being produced by Julie Gardner and Jane Tranter’s Bad Wolf. In addition to Goode and Palmer, the cast also includes: Louise Brealey (Sherlock), Alex Kingston (Doctor Who), Owen Teale (Game Of Thrones) and Greg McHugh (Fresh Meat). Jane Tranter is the executive producer, while Juan Carlos Medina (Painless) directed. Sky Vision is handling global sales.
