Channel 5 has handed out a two season renewal to their Gaby Roslin and Fiona Phillips shopping series Shop Smart Save Money. A total of sixteen episodes have been commissioned, which will be evenly split over seasons two and three.
The bumper renewal comes after the first season, consisting of three episodes, aired on Channel 5 back in June. The show’s second season is set to air later this year, while season three will follow in 2019.
Shop Smart Save Money brings viewers trolley-loads of cash-saving tips and tricks – helping them make sense of all the confusing deals and offers out there. In addition to presenters Gaby Roslin and Fiona Phillips, the series features roving consumer reporter Alexis Conran and money expert Andy Webb.
The series is produced for Channel 5 by indie True North. The Commissioning Editor for Channel 5 is Daniel Pearl. Richard Mortimer is the series producer, while the executive producer is Julie Beanland for True North.
“I’m delighted that Shop Smart Save Money has been recommissioned for a further two series”, said Channel 5’s Commissioning Editor Daniel Pearl. “The programme hit the ground running and filled a gap for a topical consumer show which was a real treat for our viewers.”
While Jess Fowle, Creative Director for True North, added: “Making a topical, weekly show brings a brand-new energy to the True North production office in Leeds so we are delighted that Channel 5 has got behind the Shop Smart brand so whole-heartedly with such a substantial commission.”
