Spooks and Strike Back star Richard Armitage’s newest espionage series is coming to the UK. Channel 4 has secured the free-to-air and non-linear rights to Epix’s spy thriller Berlin Station for their digi-net More4 after striking a deal with Paramount Pictures Worldwide Television Licensing & Distribution. The series is set to premiere later this year.
Berlin Station is set in the CIA’s office in Berlin, Germany and follows the activities of CIA operatives on a global stage amid investigations of moles, terrorists, corrupt politicians and more. The drama series is produced by Paramount Television and Anonymous Content and stars Richard Armitage, Richard Jenkins, Michelle Forbes, Rhys Ifans, Leland Orser, Ashley Judd, Keke Palmer and Ismael Cruz Córdova.
This deal further extends the relationship between Channel 4 and Paramount, who, along with Hulu, are collaborating on the Joseph Heller adaptation Catch-22. With this UK deal, Paramount Pictures Worldwide Television Licensing & Distribution has now licensed Berlin Station in more than 150 countries around the world. The agreements also comes as production on the show’s third season is underway in Budapest, Hungary.
Channel 4 as a whole remains one of the more prolific buyers of first run U.S. content. Across their portfolio of channels, the broadcaster is home to such show as: Fargo, The Handmaid’s Tale, Homeland, Black-ish, The Goldbergs, Marvel’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D., The Big Bang Theory, Young Sheldon, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, The 100, Supernatural, Gotham, Timeless, Krypton, Angie Tribeca, This Is Us and The Good Fight.
