No Activity is getting a UK broadcast. BBC Two has secured the UK rights to the original Australian police comedy series starring Patrick Brammall and Darren Gilshenan, TVWise has confirmed. The show’s first season will premiere on Sunday September 9th at 10:30pm with a double-bill.
No Activity is described as an improvised comedy that follows two detectives on a stakeout, waiting for the action to unfold – a look at what happens when nothing is happening. The narrative juxtaposes a snail’s-paced crime story with the rapidly expanding personal stories of the two detectives as they riff on the oddities of life, work, love, family, hopes, regrets and everything in between.
The comedy was originally commissioned by Australian streaming service Stan and is created by Trent O’Donnell. The cast includes Brammal, Gilshenan, Daniel Wyllie, Harriet Dyer, Genevieve Morris and David Field. Two seasons have aired on Stan in Australia and a christmas special has been commissioned for later this year. A U.S. adaptation, starring Patrick Brammall and Tim Meadows, has been produced for CBS All Access and was recently renewed for a second season. The U.S. version does not yet have a UK broadcaster.
