Press – the new drama series from King Charles III scribe Mike Bartlett – will premiere on BBC One on Thursday September 6th at 9pm, it has been announced.
Press is set in the fast-paced and challenging environment of the British newspaper industry and explores the personal lives and the constant professional dilemmas facing its characters. The series follows The Herald, a left-leaning broadsheet struggling to adapt to the age of digital news, and The Post, a thriving populist tabloid, occupy buildings in the same square.
The six episode drama series is produced by Lookout Point, BBC Studios and Deep Indigo in association with PBS Masterpiece and stars Charlotte Riley (King Charles III, Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell), Ben Chaplin (Apple Tree Yard, The Thin Red Line), Priyanga Burford (London Spy, King Charles III), Paapa Essiedu (A Midsummer Night’s Dream, RSC’s Hamlet), Shane Zaza (Happy Valley, The Da Vinci Code), Ellie Kendrick (Game Of Thrones, The Diary Of Anne Frank), Al Weaver (Grantchester, The Hollow Crown) and Brendan Cowell (Young Vic’s Yerma, Game Of Thrones) the and David Suchet (Poirot).
