Paramount Network is coming to Virgin Media.
The new channel from Viacom International Media Networks is now set to launch on the platform tomorrow (Saturday July 21st) on Channel 187. Unlike the other platforms, Paramount Network will be launching on Virgin Media in HD.
When VIMN announced Paramount Network was coming to the UK in early July, there had been plans for it to also launch on Virgin Media. That didn’t happen, with the channel launching on Sky and Freeview on July 4th. As such, this marks the first time that the channel will be available to Virgin Media customers.
Paramount Network caters to adults of all ages with strong appeal to Generation X, Millennials and fans of cinematic storytelling. They hold linear rights to Designated Survivor and Suits, and exclusive UK rights to the short-lived Fox comedy The Mick. Paramount has also recently concluded deals to acquire Marvel’s Agent Carter and FX’s The Strain.
“Paramount is home to some of the biggest hit TV shows from the US such as Suits and Designated Survivor and we are proud to be the only Pay TV provider that will be screening the channel in high-definition to our customers”, said David Bouchier, Chief Digital Entertainment Officer at Virgin Media. The addition of the channel comes as Virgin Media is locked in a dispute with UKTV that may see all ten of their channel brands – including Alibi, Dave and Drama – go dark on the platform.
