Awesome Media & Entertainment – the indie set up by writer-producer Jeff Norton – has hired veteran producer Jane Steventon to serve as a development producer working across UK scripted content, focusing on both children’s and adult content.
Steventon has experience in both arenas. She produced iconic kids TV series The Story of Tracy Beaker and the film Tracy Beaker’s ‘The Movie of Me’, as well as dramas Hollyoaks Later and Casualty. She will work directly with Norton on growing the indie’s slate of both adaptations and originals.
Her first major assignment at Awesome will be leading the indie’s adaptation of Gillian Best’s debut novel The Last Wave, which they optioned back in March. She will also develop television adaptations of Awesome’s best-selling book series Princess Ponies and MetaWars.
“I am thrilled to be working with Jeff as Awesome continues to expand and take on exciting content in the children’s and adult scripted space”, Jane Steventon said in a statement. “I’m looking forward to collaborating with partners in the international arena and can’t wait to get started.”
While Awesome Media & Entertainment founder Jeff Norton added: “We are thrilled to welcome Jane on board as we begin to expand our slate of scripted output. Jane’s knowledge of producing within the UK scripted landscape cross both kids and adult content will be invaluable during this next stage of growth for Awesome.”
