SYFY UK Acquires NBC’s ‘Reverie’ & Hulu’s ‘Future Man’, Picks Up ‘Killjoys’ Season 4

SYFY UK is bolstering their summer schedule. The NBCU owned and operated genre channel has secured exclusive UK rights to NBC’s drama series Reverie and Hulu’s sci-fi series Future Man. Additionally, they have picked up UK rights to the fourth season of Killjoys. I hear all three series will premiere in August. Reverie and Killjoys are distributed by NBCUniversal International Distribution, while Sony Pictures Television handles global sales for Future Man. Representatives of SYFY UK did not immediately respond to TVWise’s request for comment.

From Extant creator Mickey Fisher, Reverie follows Mara Kint, a former hostage negotiator and expert on human behavior who became a college professor after facing an unimaginable personal tragedy. But when her former boss, Charlie Ventana, brings her in to save ordinary people who have lost themselves in a highly advanced immersive virtual-reality program in which you can live out your wildest dreams, she finds that in saving others, she may actually have discovered a way to save herself. The drama series is produced by Universal Television and Amblin Television and stars Sarah Shahi, Dennis Haysbert, Sendhil Ramamurthy, Kathryn Morris and Jessica Lu. The series is currently airing state-side on NBC on Wednesday nights.

Future Man tells the story of Josh Futturman, a janitor by day/gamer by night who is recruited by mysterious visitors to travel through time in order to prevent the extinction of humanity. The drama series, which was created by Kyle Hunter and Ariel Shaffir, is produced by Point Grey Pictures, Matt Tolmach Productions and Turkeyfoot Productions, in association with Sony Pictures Television and stars Josh Hutcherson, Eliza Coupe, Derek Wilson, Haley Joel Osment, Keith David, Glenne Headly and Ed Begley Jr. Hulu has already renewed the series for a second season.

From Lost Girl creator Michelle Lovretta, Killjoys follows a fun-loving, hard living trio of interplanetary bounty hunters sworn to remain impartial as they chase deadly warrants throughout the Quad, a distant system on the brink of a bloody, multi-planetary class war. The drama series is produced by Temple Street Productions and stars Hannah John-Kamen, Luke Macfarlane and Aaron Ashmore. The end of Season 3 left our Killjoys scattered to the far corners of The J galaxy and beyond. Dutch is on a journey to face her biggest foe yet, while D’av and John are trapped in an elevator in deep space with a pregnant Delle Seyah (Mayko Nguyen). They are united by the knowledge of the name of their true enemy: The Lady, an immeasurable manifestation of evil without beginning or end. The Lady is making her play, and our trio has something she wants.
