Sky One has renewed their cop drama Bulletproof for a second season. Series co-creators and stars Ashley Walters and Noel Clarke are returning for the show’s second season, which is set to air in 2019.
Bulletproof has been a ratings success for the satcaster. Per Sky, the series premiere managed a cumulative average audience of 1.59 million viewers, making it the biggest Sky One audience of the year. The renewal comes on the heels of the season finale, which aired last night.
Bulletproof follows police duo Bishop and Pike – two best mates, bonded by the same moral code despite their very obvious differences. The drama series – which was created by Noel Clarke, Ashley Walters and Nick Love – is produced by Vertigo Films and Company Pictures and stars Ashley Walters, Noel Clarke, Clarke Peters, Lindsey Coulson, Christina Chong, David Elliot, Mandeep Dhillon, Jason Maza, Caroline Goodall, Emma Rigby and Lashana Lynch.
“The combination of heart-pumping car chases and emotionally charged storylines made Bulletproof’s first series a must-watch for our viewers”, said Anne Mensah, Head of Drama at Sky. “We’re excited to be working with Noel and Ashley to bring back Britain’s new favourite cop-buddy duo for even more action, laughs and thrills next series.”
“This is a culturally significant and ground-breaking show in many ways, and we appreciate the record views and support along the way”, Noel Clarke commented. “We made this show for people we feel are underrepresented so they could be entertained, which they were, and they came out in droves to watch. Thank you to all who tuned in and see you for series two.”
While Ashley Walters added: “The audience response to the show has been overwhelming. I’m looking forward to working with the rest of the Bulletproof team on series two – we’ve got some exciting storylines lined up. The action and drama is about to step up to the next level!”
