Netflix UK has released the trailer and key art for the second season of GLOW, which is set to premiere on the streaming service on Friday June 29th.
Inspired by the syndicated TV series about women’s wrestling, GLOW (AKA Gorgeous Ladies Of Wrestling) is set in Los Angeles in the 1980s and tells the fictionalized story of an out-of-work actress who finds one last attempt to live her dreams in the form of a weekly series about female wrestlers. The comedy series stars Alison Brie, Betty Gilpin , Marc Maron, Sydelle Noel, Britney Young, Britt Baron, Kate Nash, Jackie Tohn, Gayle Rankin, Kia Stevens. Sunita Mani, Rebekka Johnson, Kimmy Gatewood, Ellen Wong, Marianna Palka, Chris Lowell, Shakira Barrera, Bashir Salahuddin and Rich Sommer.
The show’s second season follows the women of GLOW as they become local celebrities, confronting the good, the bad, and the ugly realities of their newfound fame. As Ruth (Alison Brie) and Debbie (Betty Gilpin) settle into the day-to-day of making a season of TV together, they confront lingering issues at the heart of their friendship. Sam (Marc Maron) is still Sam, but now he has a teenage daughter living with him and twenty episodes to churn out. The wrestling is harder, the stakes are higher, and the hair is even bigger. Liz Flahive and Carly Mensch are the showrunners and serve as executive producers alongside Tara Hermann and Jenji Kohan.
