As part of their commissioning strategy. ITV4 has given the green-light to Take The Tower, a game show fronted by Dolph Lundgren which draws inspiration from classic Hollywood action movies.

Take The Tower will see movie star Lundgren challenge some of the toughest members of the public to a combination of physical challenges and quiz questions. Contestants who manage to make their way to the top of the ‘tower’ will whisk their mates off on holiday. It’s high stakes with cash prizes up for grabs and the fear of one of the team being ‘toppled off the tower’.

Indie Twofour are producing, with Melanie Leach, Andrew Mackenzie and Rachel Watson serving as executive producers.  “This is probably the most bonkers idea we’ve had the good fortune to make”, Melanie Leach, Executive Producer and Managing Director of Twofour, said in a statement. “But in the words of the A Team, it’s so crazy, it just might work.”

Take The Tower was commissioned by ITV’s Commissioning Editor for Comedy & Entertainment Amanda Stavri. “Take the Tower will anchor a night of new, original series this coming Autumn on ITV4 as we push forward with a commissioning strategy that puts male-skewed entertainment at the heart of Prime Time on the channel”, added Paul Mortimer, ITV’s Head of Digital Channels and Acquisitions.
