NCIS: New Orleans has a new UK home. FOX UK has secured first window rights to the NCIS spin-off in a deal with international distributor CBS Studios International. The agreement begins with season four, which will premiere on FOX UK on Friday July 20th at 9pm. The show’s fifth season will then follow later in 2018.
Channel 5 previously acquired first window rights back in 2014 but never fully utilised the show. As with Gotham, which E4 recently poached, it was subject to erratic scheduling and the back half of season three of NCIS: New Orleans has not aired on the channel.
NCIS: New Orleans is set in the NCIS New Orleans field office, which handles cases from Pensacola through Mississippi and Louisiana to the Texas panhandle. The drama is produced by CBS Television Studios and stars Scott Bakula (Star Trek: Enterprise), CCH Pounder (Warehouse 13), Lucas Black (Fast & Furious), Vanessa Ferlito (CSI: NY), Rob Kerkovich (Chasing Life), Daryl Mitchell (Galaxy Quest) and Shalita Grant (Mercy Street).
Given that FOX UK has been the first run home to NCIS since it launched in 2003, NCIS: New Orleans was perhaps a natural buy for the channel and was a show they looked at when it hit the market in 2014. The show joins a slate of first run acquisitions on the channel which, in addition to the aforementioned NCIS, also includes: Bull, The Gifted, The Orville, Legion and American Dad.
“FOX UK is the home of NCIS, one of the most watched dramas in the world. In a move set to delight viewers, fans of the series can now watch premiere episodes from the brand new season of NCIS: New Orleans”, said Shoshana Wilson, Director of Programming, Scheduling & Acquisitions for Fox Networks Group Europe. “FOX prides itself on delivering thrilling entertainment in keeping with our Hollywood heritage and I’m delighted we can bring our viewers the series they have been crying out for.”
