UKTV has a hit on their hands with Taskmaster. The sixth season of the Greg Davies and Alex Horne fronted series kicked off on Dave last night to record ratings.
Per the overnights, Taskmaster peaked with 778 000 viewers – the highest overnight rating in the show’s history. The season premiere was also watched by more 25-34-year-olds than any other channel in it’s slot last night, with the show’s 11.9% share of the demo up from a 2.1% slot average; beating both BBC1 and ITV.
Taskmaster sees Greg Davies, assisted by Alex Horne, assigning tasks to a group of well-known comedians to show their creativity, conniving and competitiveness, before he ultimately decides who wins. The line-up of comedians for the sixth season includes Alice Levine (My Dad Wrote A Porno), Asim Chaudhry (People Just Do Nothing), Liza Tarbuck (Upstart Crow), Russell Howard (The Russell Howard Hour) and Tim Vine (Not Going Out).
UKTV’s has already renewed Taskmaster for a further three seasons by UKTV’s Director of Commissioning Richard Watsham and Deputy Director of Commissioning Hilary Rosen. The series, which was devised by Horne, is produced by Avalon Television. The executive producers are Richard Allen-Turner, Rob Aslett, Alex Horne, James Taylor, Jon Thoday and Hilary Rosen, Series director Andy Devonshire also serves as an executive producer. Andy Cartwright is series producer.
