As part of their existing multi-million pound co-production deal, Sky One and HBO have given the green-light to Sally4Ever, a new seven episode comedy series created by and starring Julia Davis. Production on the series is already underway in London for a late 2018 premiere.
Sally4Ever follows the life of Sally, a soon-to-be promoted marketer who, for 10 years, has lived a comfortable and dull suburban life with David. But on the night he asks her to marry him, Sally has a crisis and embarks on a wild affair with Emma (Julia Davis), a seductive, charismatic, boho actress, singer, musician, poet and author. Before Sally knows it, Emma has moved in, rearranged the furniture and her life. Is this really what Sally wants, or has she made a mistake?
Hush Ho and Various Artists Ltd are producing, while Julia Davis penned the scripts and is also directing. “I’m so excited to be making this project with Various Artists Ltd for Sky and HBO, and am incredibly lucky to be working with such an outstanding cast and receiving such great support and creative guidance from Sky and HBO”, Davis said.
In addition to Julia Davis, the cast also includes Catherine Shepherd (Peep Show) as Sally and Alex Macqueen (Silent Witness) as David. Rounding out the cast is Julian Barratt (The Mighty Boosh), Joanna Scanlan from (No Offence), Mark Gatiss (Sherlock) and Felicity Montagu (The Durrells).
“They say never work with your heroines, balls to that Julia’s as much fun to work with as her shows are to watch”, commented Jon Mountague, Head of Sky Comedy. “Hunderby & Camping bear that out & her latest uniquely brilliant comic creation is genuinely breathtaking.”
While Amy Gravitt, Executive Vice-President of HBO Programming, added: “We’ve been in comedy awe of Julia for many, many years. We’re thrilled to be a part of her latest stroke of genius, and to be working alongside Sky One, Hush Ho and Various Artists in the process.”
