Channel 4 Sets UK Premiere Date For ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ Season 2

The second season of Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale will receive its UK premiere on Channel 4 on Sunday May 20th at 9pm, it has been announced.

The Handmaid’s Tale tells the story of life in the dystopia of Gilead, a totalitarian society in what was formerly the United States. Facing environmental disasters and a plunging birthrate, Gilead is ruled by a twisted fundamentalism in its militarized “return to traditional values.” The drama series is produced by MGM Television and stars Elisabeth Moss, Joseph Fiennes, Yvonne Strahovski, Samira Wiley, Alexis Bledel, Ann Dowd, Max Minghella, Madeline Brewer, O-T Fagbenle and Amanda Brugel.

The show’s second season is shaped by Offred’s pregnancy and her ongoing fight to free her future child from the dystopian horrors of Gilead. “Gilead is within you” is a favorite saying of Aunt Lydia. In Season Two, Offred and all our characters will fight against – or succumb to – this dark truth. The Handmaid’s Tale is based on the novel by Margaret Atwood and was developed for television by Bruce Miller. Miller also serves as an executive producer alongside Warren Littlefield, Elisabeth Moss, Daniel Wilson, Fran Sears, and Ilene Chaiken,
