Channel 4 Sets Premiere Date For ‘Ackley Bridge’ Season 2 – TVWise

The second season of Channel 4’s drama series Ackley Bridge will premiere on Tuesday June 5th at 8pm, it has been announced.
Ackley Bridge is set in a Yorkshire mill town which is home to largely divided white and Asian populations. Like the communities, the school systems have also become segregated. However as two formerly isolated comprehensives are merged into a brand new academy, Ackley Bridge College, the lives and cultures of each are set to collide. The series is produced by The Forge and stars Jo Joyner, Paul Nicholls, Sunetra Sarker, Liz White, Adil Ray, Arsher Ali, Poppy Lee-Friar, Amy Leigh-Hickman, Arsher Ali and Tony Jayawardena.
Season two runs an extended length of twelve episodes. In the opening episode, in a bid to disguise her sexuality, Nas has agreed to a sham engagement with Naveed – who is also in the closet. Mandy is under pressure from Sadiq as both the Year 7 intake and exam results have plummeted. Missy and Nas steal Jordan’s drugs money. Ackley Bridge was created by Ayub Khan Din (East is East) and Kevin Erlis (Shameless). The executive producers are George Ormond, George Faber and Ayub Khan Din.
