UKTV’s W channel has given the greenlight to Emma Willis: Delivering Babies, a six episode amternity documentary series that will see the presenter train as a Maternity Care Assistant.
Delivering Babies follows Emma throughout the training process on a busy maternity ward. She’ll be working four shifts a week: day and night; alongside the nursing staff, where she’ll discover first-hand what makes it one of the toughest, but most rewarding careers you can have.
“If I wasn’t doing my current job I know for a fact that I would have loved to work in a hospital. Blood, guts and the workings of the human body have always fascinated me”, said Emma Willis. “Both my parents worked in hospitals and so it’s literally in my blood. I can’t wait to dive right in and fully immerse myself in a busy maternity ward alongside the truly incredible midwives and nurses who work there day in day out.”
Emma Willis: Delivering Babies was commissioned for W by UKTV’s Commissioning Editor Helen Nightingale and ordered by UKTV’s Deputy Director of Commissioning Hilary Rosen and UKTV’s General Manager for Comedy and Entertainment. It is being produced by indie Firecracker Films, with Emma Morgan and Sam Emmery serving as the executive producers. Laura Capaldi is the series producer.
“W is always looking for surprising and innovative ideas and are delighted Emma will embark on this unique journey with us”, added Adam Collings, Channel Director for W and Really. “I’m thrilled viewers will get to celebrate one of life’s most precious moments, first-hand alongside the parents and healthcare professionals and as seen from Emma’s perspective.”
