UKTV's Alibi Channel Inks SPT Deal For 'Carter', 'The Guardian' & 'Unforgettable' – TVWise

Alibi is adding a trio of scripted dramas to their slate.
The UKTV owned and operated channel has agreed a bumper deal with international distributor Sony Pictures Television for UK rights to AXN’s Jerry O’Connell fronted drama series Carter, and repeat rights to both The Guardian and Unforgettable.
“Carter is a brilliant, fast-paced new detective drama with a twist”, said Emma Ayech, Channel Director for Alibi. “With a star-studded cast, and action and adventure around every corner, we are delighted to add Carter to Alibi’s growing slate of glossy crime shows.” All three series will air on Alibi in 2018.
Carter follows Harley Mackay, a detective on a hit American TV show who is forced to return to his sleepy hometown after an embarrassing public meltdown in Hollywood. Once back, Carter taps into his acting experience to become a real-life detective, partnering with long-time friend and no-nonsense veteran of the force, Sam St. Clair. The drama series is produced by Amaze Film + Television and stars Jerry O’Connell (Billions), Sydney Poitier (Chicago PD) and Kristian Bruun (Orphan Black).
This agreement further extends the relationship between UKTV and Sony Pictures Television. The two companies previously pacted together to bring Lifetime mini-series The Red Tent to UK viewers on Drama. “We are thrilled to be bringing such a great range of enjoyable series to UKTV audiences”, said Mark Young, Senior Vice President of UK, Iberia & Africa Distribution for Sony Pictures Television. “Carter, Unforgettable and The Guardian will have a great home on Alibi and we are excited to continue our relationship with UKTV.”
Additionally, it’s worth noting that his is not the first UK deal that SPT has secured for The Guardian, starring Simon Baker (The Mentalist), and Unforgettable, starring Poppy Montgomery. The Guardian previously aired on Universal Channel (then under the branding of Hallmark) and the now defunct Disney UK channel ABC1; while Sky Living aired all four seasons of Unforgettable. The two shows join a wealth of library content on Alibi, including The Closer, Lie To Me and Sue Thomas: F.B. Eye.
