Sky One Import 'SEAL Team' Scores Second Season Renewal – TVWise

Military drama SEAL Team, which recently started airing on this side of the pond on Sky One, has scored an early second season renewal from CBS. The network also renewed the Shemar Moore fronted S.W.A.T., which does not yet have a UK home.
SEAL Team follows the professional and personal lives of the most elite unit of Navy SEALs as they train, plan and execute the most dangerous, high-stakes missions a country can ask of them. The drama series is produced by CBS Television Studios and stars David Boreanaz, Jessica Paré, Max Thierot, Neil Brown Jr, A.J. Buckley and Toni Trucks.
“These exciting new dramas have been sensational additions to our schedule, are striking all the right notes creatively, and really connect with our viewers. SEAL Team has strengthened our Wednesday line up – routinely winning its time period with over 10 million viewers and allowing us to build an even more powerful night”, said Kelly Kahl, President of CBS Entertainment. “We congratulate the talented casts and producers on an amazing year as we look forward to their return next season.”
The pick up comes mere hours after Sky One and U.S. co-production partner Cinemax renewed their own similarly themed drama series Strike Back. For Sky One, SEAL Team becomes the third of their exclusive U.S. acquisitions to earn a renewal for next season; after Fox and ABC previously renewed The Simpsons and Modern Family, respectively. The satcaster is still waiting on word of the rest of their slate, which includes such shows as Marvel’s Inhumans, Arrow, Hawaii Five-0, MacGyver, NCIS: Los Angeles, DC’s Legends Of Tomorrow, The Flash, Supergirl and The Blacklist.
