Sky Living has secured the exclusive UK rights to ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy spin-off Station 19 after striking a deal with international distributor Disney Media Distribution. TVWise understands that while a firm premiere date has not yet been set, it is presently eyed for a mid-April debut.
Station 19 follows a group of heroic firefighters at Seattle Fire Station 19 – from captain to newest recruit – as they risk their lives and hearts both in the line of duty and off the clock. The drama series is produced by ABC Studios and stars Jaina Lee Ortiz, Jason George, Miguel Sandoval, Grey Damon, Jay Hayden, Alberto Frezza, Danielle Savre, Okieriete Onaodowan and Barrett Doss.
With this pick-up, Sky has been the UK home to each and every series in the Grey‘s universe. Sky Living has been the long-time home to Grey’s Anatomy and they also carried the first three seasons of prior spin-off Private Practice. Though the last three seasons of Private Practice didn’t ‘air’ on Living, Sky did make them available as a box-set via ABC Studios On Demand.
Disney Media Distribution has been on a roll of late when it comes to UK deals of later. Earlier today, the company licensed both Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger and The Crossing to Amazon Prime Video UK; and just last week they inked a bumper deal with the NBCU owned and operated SYFY UK for Hulu’s Marvel series Runaways, and Freeform dramas Siren and Stitchers.
