Starz’s drama series Power has been handed and early sixth season renewal, just as production is wrapping on the ten episode fifth season. Curtis ’50 Cent’ Jackson will direct the season six premiere.
“As ‘Power’ wraps production on season five, we want to acknowledge and thank our spectacular ‘Power’ team for producing another great season”, said Starz’s President of Programming Carmi Zlotnik. “We are also pleased to announce a pick-up for season six.”
Netflix holds exclusive UK SVOD rights to Power after they previously acquired the show in a deal with Starz Digital back in 2016. Since season three, the streaming giant has made episodes available on this side of the pond within 24 hours of the U.S. broadcast. The fifth season will premiere on Starz in the United States on July 1st, while Netflix has yet to confirm the UK premiere date.
Created by Courtney A. Kemp, Power is a crime drama set in two different worlds: the glamorous New York club scene and the brutal drug trade. It tells the story of James “Ghost” St. Patrick, a man trying to escape his role as a drug kingpin for a legitimized life in the elite of NYC. The drama series is produced by CBS Television Studios and stars Omari Hardwick, Joseph Sikora, Naturi Naughton and Lela Loren. Series creator Courtney A. Kemp executive produces alongside Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, Mark Canton, Randall Emmett, Gary Lennon and Shana Stein.
