Movies 24 Picks Up UK Rights To ‘Date My Dad’

Movies 24 is adding a comedy to their line-up.

The NBCU owned and operated channel has secured the UK rights to UP TV’s comedy series Date My Dad, starring Barry Watson and Raquel Welch. The ten episode series – which is distributed internationally by Content Media and Palatin Media – will premiere on Sunday April 29th at 5pm with a double-bill.

Date My Dad tells the story of Ricky Cooper, who had the perfect life. A former professional baseball player, he was married to Isabella, the love of his life. Ricky’s world comes crashing down when Isabella passes away leaving him to raise his three daughters with the help of his live-in mother-in-law Rosa. The comedy series is produced by 50˚ North in association with EveryWhere Studios and stars Barry Watson, Raquel Welch, Zenia Marshall, Lilah Fitzgerald, Audrey Smallman, Cindy Busby, Lochlyn Munro, Matty Finochio, Karen Holness and Chris Gauthier.

This is an interesting acquisition for Movies 24. The channel, which as its name suggests primarily carries movies, has a small footprint in scripted series – primarily carrying shows that air on Crown Media’s Hallmark Channel in the United States, such as Chesapeake Shores and When Calls The Heart. The channel is also the UK home to Hallmark Mysteries & Movies various TV movie franchises including Signed, Sealed, DeliveredEmma Fielding Mystery and Garage Sale MysteryDate My Dad is to date the only comedy series on Movies 24.
