Universal Channel Acquires Fox's Medical Drama 'The Resident' – TVWise

Universal Channel has sealed a deal with Twentieth Century Fox Television Distribution to acquire the exclusive first run UK broadcast rights to Fox’s Matt Czuchry (The Good Wife) and Emily VanCamp (Revenge) fronted medical drama The Resident. The series is presently eyed for an April premiere.
The Resident follows an idealistic young doctor, Devon Praves, during his last few years of training. Under the supervision of a tough and brilliant senior resident, Conrad Hawkins, he soon discovers his chosen profession is not what he imagined and that ethical lines are often blurred. The drama series is produced by 20th Century Fox Television and stars Matt Czuchry, Emily VanCamp, Manish Dayal, Moran Atias, Merrin Dungey, Shaunette Renée Wilson, Melina Kanakaredes and Bruce Greenwood.
In addition to announcing the deal with Fox for The Resident, Universal Channel has confirmed that they have also acquired Canadian drama series The Disappearance, which is set to premiere on Tuesday February 27th. Elsewhere, the NBCU backed channel has sealed a deal with sister company NBCUniversal International Distribution to acquire Gone, starring Chris Noth, which tells the story of the survivor of a famous child-abduction case and the FBI agent who rescued her.
