ITV’s newest Maigret adaptation Montmartre will premiere on Christmas Eve (Sunday December 24th) at 8:30pm, it has been announced.
Maigret follow Jules Maigret, a legendary French detective, who is described as “magnificently measured and insightful”. The character was created by Georges Simenon and first appeared in print in 1931. By the time of his death in 1989, Simenon had written some 75 novels featuring the character, known for his laconic manner, heavy coat and trademark pipe.
The feature length adaptation, which is based on the short story of the same name by George Simenon, is being penned by Stewart Harcourt, who adapted all three previous films. It is being produced for ITV by Thompson & Thompson Productions Ltd and Georges Simenon Limited, with Rowan Atkinson starring in the titular role. Kucy Cohu, Shaun Dingwall, Leo Starr, Mark Heap, Lorraine Ashbourne, Douglas Hodge, Sebastian De Souza, Colin Mace, Hugh Simon, Adrian Scarborough, Olivia Vinall, Simon Gregor, Sara Kestelman, Tilly Vosburgh, Jane Wood, Nicola Sloane, Adrian Rawlins, Cassie Clare and Niké Kurta also star.
