The second season of Babylon Berlin will receive its UK premiere on Sky Atlantic on Sunday December 3rd at 9pm, it has been announced.
Babylon Berlin is set in Berlin in the Roaring Twenties. It is a metropolis for those with talent and ambition, but a dead end for the impoverished masses striving for a better life. It is a time of organized crime and political extremism. The old militaristic elites have not yet abdicated while an even more dreadful monster starts flexing its muscles. The drama series is produced by X Filme, ARD Degeto, Sky and Beta Film and stars Volker Bruch, Liv-Lisa Fries, Matthias Brandt, Peter Kurth, Hannah Herzsprung, Karl Markovics, Lars Eidinger, Sebastian Urzendowsky and Christian Friedel.
In the show’s eight episode second season Inspector Rath has concluded the mission that brought him to Berlin, but he has become seduced by the city’s dark and unrestrained side, and has decided he will not be returning to his home in Cologne. However, he has made some powerful enemies within the criminal underworld, and has become a target to those who wish to control him through clandestine methods. With his unorthodox but effective partnership with Lotte terminated, he is friendless and alone in a dangerous city. What’s more, he is about to undertake another case that will bring him face to face with the most lethal factions that Berlin has to offer, as he is put in charge of finding the perpetrators behind the massacre of the Russian Trotskyist group, The Red Fortress.
