Medical comedy series Porters will premiere on UKTV’s Dave channel on Wednesday September 20th at 10pm, it has been announced.
Porters is described as a sitcom about the unseen life of a modern hospital. Deluded Simon Porter dreams of passing his medical exam and becoming a doctor – but by starting at the bottom, and becoming the best porter the NHS has ever seen. All he has to do is survive a few months grafting in a hospital basement and try not to kill any of the patients. How hard can that be?
The three-part comedy series, which hails from Dan Sefton and is based on his own experiences of working in a hospital, has been in the works for long time and was previously in development at the BBC before UKTV gave the project a green-light back in April. Porters is produced by Dancing Ledge Productions and stars Ed Easton, Susan Wokoma, Claudia Jessie, Rutger Hauer, Jo Joyner, Sanjeev Bhaskar and Mat Horne. Frasier‘s Kelsey Grammer guest stars. Simon Lupton is the series producer, while Pete Thornton and Laurence Bowen serve as executive producers.
