The walkers are crossing the pond. Thorpe Park is set to launch two new attractions based on AMC’s hit zombie drama The Walking Dead – which airs on this side of the pond on FOX UK – after striking a deal with the U.S. cable network.
The two attractions are The Walking Dead: Living Nightmare and The Walking Dead: Sanctum. Both will open on Friday September 29th; marking the beginning of Thorpe Park’s annual ‘Fright Nights’ season.
Living Nightmare is an indoor maze which will allow visitors to experience iconic scenes from the series and they will find themselves at the mercy of Negan. Sanctum is a live-action outdoor maze which will see members of the public having to navigate their way past roaming walkers or risk being captured.
“Fright Nights is Thorpe Park Resort’s biggest event of the year, and we’re hugely excited to bring the worldwide phenomenon that is The Walking Dead to our visitors”, said Dominic Jones, Divisional Director, at Thorpe Park Resort. “Each of the two specially built mazes are absolutely terrifying and are definitely not for the faint hearted.”
Thorpe Park has also rolled out an advertising campaign for the new attractions. That campaign got underway today in the form of a ‘living billboard’ in East London which soaked unaware commuters in blood and guts. The billboard in question (see below) was created using over 50 kilogrammes of offal and blood and will be rolled out nationwide in the next two months. It will also be mounted on a truck to tour London this Autumn.
