ITV2 is returning to ancient Rome. The digi-net has renewed their comedy series Plebs for an eight episode fourth season, which is set to air in Spring 2018. Production on season four gets underway this week.
Created by Sam Leifer and Tom Basden, Plebs is set in Ancient Rome and follows three under achievers, all of whom are on a desperate quest to live the ‘when in Rome’ mantra to the full in the empire’s most exciting city. The comedy series is produced by Rise Films and stars Tom Rosenthal, Joel Fry, Ryan Sampson and Doon Mackichan.
The official pick-up comes months after word first leaked that the series would return to ITV2 for another season. Plebs ranks as the highest rated British scripted comedy on multichannel; with the series frequently attracting more than 1 million viewers across all three seasons. Series creators Leifer and Basden are penning the scripts for season four. Details of guest stars and plot for these new episodes are being kept under wraps. Caroline Leddy is the executive producer.
