ITV2’s time-travel comedy series Timewasters will premiere on Monday October 9th at 10pm, it has been announced.
Timewasters follows a struggling four-piece South London jazz band who travel back in time to the 1920s via a urine-sodden lift in a dilapidated block of flats. Stuck in the past after their ‘time machine’ is destroyed, they decide to explore, before quickly discovering that being young and black in the Jazz Age is a lot less genteel and a lot more shady than Downton Abbey had led them to believe.
The comedy, which was picked up to series at ITV2 more than a year ago, was created by Daniel Lawrence Taylor and is set up at Big Talk Productions, In addition to creating the series and penning the scripts, Daniel Lawrence Taylor (Cockroaches) also leads the cast as Nick. Other cast members include Kadiff Kirwan (Chewing Gum) as Jason, Adelayo Adedayo (Skins) as Lauren and Samson Kayo (Youngers) as Horace. Kevin Eldon also stars as John Logie Baird, who helps the band navigate the parties and pitfalls of the Roaring Twenties while searching for a way back home.
