ITV has released a trailer for their upcoming eighth season of their Martin Clunes fronted drama series Doc Martin, which is set to premiere on Wednesday September 20th at 9pm.
Created by Dominic Minghella, Doc Martin follows Dr. Martin Ellingham, the GP with a brusque bedside manner and a phobia of blood. The drama series is produced by Buffalo Pictures and stars Martin Clunes, Caroline Catz, Eileen Atkins, Ian McNeice, John Marquez, Jessica Ransom and Malcolm Storry.
In the eight episode eighth season, after having therapy to save their marriage in season seven, Doc Martin and Louisa Ellingham face the challenge of living happily together with their baby James Henry. Jack Lothian, Richard Stoneman, Julian Unthank, Colin Bateman and Andy Rattenbury penned the scripts for the new episodes. Nigel Cole and Stuart Orme are the directors.
Wedding bells are ringing for Portwenn’s police constable, Joe Penhale (John Marquez) and the Doc’s nanny Janice Bone (Robyn Addison) in the season premiere. Penhale has his own medical issue to deal with, which could prevent him from making it down the aisle. The Doc diagnoses him with kidney stones and recommends pain killers, which Penhale refuses to take, worrying that he doesn’t want to be ‘drugged up’ on his wedding day.
