Diana: The Day The World Cried is heading overseas. International distributor Cineflix Rights has sold the one-off documentary from the Glasgow based independent production company to a number of international broadcasters.
Originally commissioned by ITV and the Smithsonian Channel, Diana: The Day The World Cried has been picked up by Nine Network in Australia, SVT in Sweden, NRK in Norway, Sky in New Zealand, DIRECTV in Latin America, ITV in Asia, Middle East and Africa, Manoto in Iran and Channel 8 in Israel.
The one-off documentary special, narrated by Kate Winslet, marks the 20th anniversary of the death of the ‘People’s Princess’. It is told in the words of those who were there, including some of the famous faces at Westminister Abbey and those behind the scenes, with many speaking exclusively for the first time. Diana: The Day The World Cried is set to air on ITV later this month.
Cineflix has also concluded international deals for a number of other shows produced by Finestripe Productions. Inside Dior has been sold to RTL Living in Germany, Foxtel in Australia, Sky in New Zealand, Planete+ in France, Movistar+ in Spain, Channel 8 in Israel, Manoto in Iran and Fox in India; Whizz Kids: On the Fast Track to F1 to RTS in Switzerland and PCCW in Hong Kong; while Irish broadcaster RTE has acquired both The Day Day Kennedy Died and The Day Hitler Died.
”There’s strong international demand at the moment for high-calibre documentaries, and Finestripe has a fantastic ability to produce programming based on impeccable research, rarely granted interviews, and exclusive behind-the-scenes access that appeals to a global market”, said Chris Bonney, CEO Rights, Cineflix Media. “We’re thrilled that this longstanding producer partnership continues to provide our international buyers with top-rated content.”
