BBC Two has handed out a bumper second season renewal to factual series Back To The Land With Kate Humble. The Beeb has ordered twelve episodes for season two, up considerably from the three episodes that comprised season one.
Produced by independent production company 7 Wonder, the series follows Kate Humble as she takes a journey across the country to meet passionate people who are pioneering a rural revolution; turning the traditional view of what it takes to make a living in the sticks right on its head.
Back To The Land With Kate Humble was re-commissioned for BBC Two by David Brindley, the BBC’s Head of Popular Factual and Factual Entertainment. The Executive Producers for 7 Wonder are Alexandra Fraser and Sarah Trigg. 7 Wonder is backed by 7 Network Australia.
“We are absolutely thrilled to be making another series of Back to the Land with Kate. At its heart, it’s a stylish factual format, which touches on elements of history, geography and tradition”, Executive Producer Sarah Trigg said in a statement. “What we all enjoy about the creative process of making it is witnessing these incredible and aspirational people doing what they love to keep the countryside alive.”
“I’m delighted that we are going to be making another series”, Kate Humble added. “The stories of people who had taken risks, tried new things, been brave and innovative in order to create ways of making a living that they believed in, inspired and delighted not just the audience, but the whole production team and I! All of us can’t wait to get started again. This might be the beginning of a counter industrial revolution that sees everyone wanting to head Back to the Land!”
