It’s official: How To Get Away With Murder is returning to the UK.
After weeks of rumours, TVWise can confirm that Sky Living has indeed closed a deal with Disney Media Distribution to secure the exclusive rights to the ABC drama in a multi-season agreement.
The agreement between Sky and DMD comes close to a year after TVWise first reported that Universal Channel had dropped How To Get Away With Murder after two seasons. Back then, we also reported that DMD were actively shopping the show other UK buyers.
Just as they did when they stepped in and picked up Scandal after it was dropped by Channel 4’s digi-net More4 back in 2014, Sky Living is making past seasons available on-demand and will go straight into airing the third season. While the schedule has not yet been finalised, season three of How To Get Away With Murder is currently pencilled in for a mid-July launch on the channel.
With this pick up, Sky Living is now the exclusive UK home to ABC’s entire Shondaland TGIT block, which consists of Grey’s Anatomy, Scandal and How To Get Away With Murder. It joins a slate of U.S. drama acquisitions at the channel that also includes NBC’s Blindspot, CBS’ State Department drama Madam Secretary and Sherlock Holmes re-imagining Elemnetary, as well as the first entry in the Chicago franchise, Chicago Fire.
