Big Light Production is adding to its executive ranks.
Frank Spotnitz’s indie has hired Wall To Wall development producer Frances Flannery and Red Production Company’s Emily Feller as the company is looking to expand their slate of original programming, under the stewardship of Head of Drama Katie McAleese.
Flannery will serve as Head of Development and will be responsible for building the Big Light’s original development slate and strategy; while Feller will serve as an executive producer. Feller’s first project will be the second season of Medici: Masters Of Florence, which recently tapped 24 vet Jon Cassar as showrunner. Both will report to McAleese.
“With projects already in development in the UK, the US and Europe, it’s an exciting moment for Emily and Frances to join the team”, Big Light’s Head of Drama Kate McAleese said in a statement. “They’re both exceptionally writer-focussed and have fantastic editorial instincts. I’m thrilled that they’re joining as Big Light moves into this next phase.”
Launched by Frank Spotnitz in 2013, Big Light Productions has produced a number of high-end dramas including The Man In The High Castle, the third season of Crossing Lines, hostage crisis drama Ransom and Medici (which is available in the UK exclusively on Netflix). The indie is looking to ramp up production of original series, primarily targeted for the American and British market, which can the be exploited internationally.
