One of the hottest miniseries on the international market has secured a UK deal.
The Kennedys sequel After Camelot, starring Matthew Perry (The Good Fight) and Katie Holmes (The Kennedys) has been snapped up on this side of the pond by Channel 5 after they agreed a deal with international distributor Muse Distribution International, TVWise has learned.
Muse has slowly been racking up international deals for The Kennedys: After Camelot. There were a number of UK broadcasters who expressed some interest in this four hour miniseries. The Kennedys aired in the UK on History UK and subsequently got a repeat window on BBC Two in 2011. I hear that a second window deal is again likely, with History UK being a possible contender.
Originally commissioned by U.S. cable network Reelz, The Kennedys: After Camelot picks up in the wake of the assassination of RFK in 1968 and continue to tell the on-going saga of America’s most famous and controversial family. It depicts the complicated public and private life of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, her marriage to Greek billionaire Aristotle Onassis, and her challenges with her son John F. Kennedy, Jr. as he struggles with school, work and his self-identity.
The miniseries, which will air on Channel 5 under the slightly different title The Kennedys: Decline And Fall, was based on J. Randy Taraborrelli’s book and is produced by Muse Entertainment. Matthew Perry stars as Ted Kennedy, Alexander Siddig as Ari Onassis, Kristen Hager as Joan Kennedy and Brett Donahue as John F. Kennedy Jr. Katie Holmes, Diana Hardcastle and Kristin Booth reprise their roles from The Kennedys as Jackie Kennedy, Rose Kennedy and Ethel Kennedy, respectively. Jon Cassar and Katie Holmes directed.
