BBC Two’s three-part drama Paula will premiere on Thursday May 25th at 9pm, it has been announced.
Paula explores the fallout in a young Chemistry teacher’s life, after her one-night stand with a good-looking but dangerous ducker and diver. There is an instant, animalistic, spark of attraction before they become locked in a dance of mutual destruction. Only one can survive, but their actions will take a terrifying toll on all those around them.
The three-parter, which mark’s Conor McPherson’s first original television series, is produced by BBC NI Drama with Cuba Pictures (the in-house production division of leading literary and talent agency Curtis Brown) and stars Denise Gough (The Fall, Apple Tree Yard), Tom Hughes (Victoria, The Game) and Owen McDonnell (Spooks, Single-handed). Coalition helmer Alex Holmes is the director. The executive producers are Nick Marston, Dixie Linder and Stephen Wright.
