Amazon Prime Video UK import The Path, fronted by former Breaking Bad star Aaron Paul, has been renewed for a third season by U.S. streaming service Hulu, TVWise has learned. 13 episodes have been ordered for the show’s third season.
The renewal comes on the very same day that the second season finale of The Path is set to air on Hulu. Amazon Prime Video UK makes episodes available to stream every Thursday, less than 24 hours after they initially air state-side.
Set against the backdrop of an intriguing grassroots religious group that may or may not be an international cult, The Path examines the struggle of a family as marriage, faith and loyalty are put to the test. The drama series is produced by Universal Television and stars Aaron Paul, Michelle Monaghan, Hugh Dancy, Kyle Allen, Emma Greenwell, Rockmond Dunbar, Sarah Jones and Amy Forsyth. The executive producers are showrunner Jessica Goldberg, Jason Katims and Michelle Lee.
The third season of The Path is expected to launch on Hulu in 2018. Also on the streaming service’s 2018 slate is limited series The Looming Tower, based on the Pulitzer winning book by Lawrence Wright, which examines the rising threat of Bin Laden and the Al-Qaeda network throughout the 1990s and how dysfunction at the heart of government, the FBI and CIA prevented U.S. authorities from identifying and disrupting the 9/11 attack. The limited series has already attracted the attention of several UK buyers, including Channel 5 and the BBC.
