Less than three weeks after the show’s third season dropped on the streaming service, Netflix has officially pulled the trigger and ordered a thirteen episode fourth season of Grace & Frankie, TVWise has learned.
Grace & Frankie follows the eponymous characters who find their lives both turned upside down when their husbands announce they are in love with each other and plan to get married. The half-hour series stars Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin, Martin Sheen, Sam Waterston, Brooklyn Decker, Ethan Embry, Baron Vaughn and June Diane Raphael.
In addition to confirming the renewal, Netflix also announced that former Friends star Lisa Kudrow will be joining the cast of Grace & Frankie in a recurring role for season four. She will play Sheree, a manicurist who threatens to drive a wedge between Grace and Frankie as a result of her budding friendship with Grace. Kudrow’s casting reunites her with Marta Kaufman, who, in addition to co-creating Grace & Frankie, also co-created Friends.
Production on season four is now underway for a 2018 premiere. Grace & Frankie is produced by Skydance Productions. The executive producers are Marta Kauffman, Howard J. Morris, David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, Marcy Ross, Paula Weinstein, Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin
Grace & Frankie is the latest original series to earn a renewal at Netflix for their 2018 slate. The streaming service has also renewed Orange Is The New Black and Santa Clarita Diet for next year; while 13 Reasons Why is also expected to earn a pick up in the coming weeks. As with the vast majority of Netflix originals (with Longmire being a notable exception), Grace & Frankie airs on this side of the pond on Netflix UK.
