BBC Two Sets Premiere Date For ‘Versailles’ Season 2

The second season of French period drama Versailles will receive its UK premiere on BBC Two on Friday April 21st at 9:30pm, it has been announced.

Versailles follows the life of King Louis XIV, a 17th century rock star. Versailles season two shows us the dark underbelly of power, as Louis sees the dream of his grand Versailles palace crumbling before his eyes. The drama series, which has already been renewed for a third season, is produced by Zodiak Fiction and stars George Blagden (Vikings), Alexander Vlahos (Merlin) and Anna Brewster (Star Wars: The Force Awakens).

In the show’s second season a high-profile poisoning leaves a coveted vacancy, while pregnant Madame de Montespan exercises her influence at every opportunity. Is someone out to eclipse the Sun King? Widower Philippe, as Louis’ brother, cannot be allowed to remain single, though his exiled lover Chevalier (Evan Williams) has been allowed home – so a new marriage must be arranged. Meanwhile, the King recruits a writer to chronicle the glories of his reign.
