Sky1 new comedy series Carters Get Rich will premiere on Friday March 31st at 8pm, it has been announced.
Carters Get Rich tells the story of the Carter family. Tony Carter is an ordinary working class dad and is happy with his life and his simple existence. When his 11 year-old son Harry creates a social networking app Honc, it is supposed to be a fun way to speak to girls at school, but things take a slightly different turn after it catches the eye of US billionaire Trent Zebrisky. When he buys the app for millions of pounds, the Carter family’s lives are turned upside down as they try to adapt to their new found fame and fortune
The half-hour comedy series, which has an order for six episodes, is produced by Roughcut TV and stars James Van Der Beek (Dawson’s Creek, Rules of Attraction), Kerry Godliman (Our Girl, Derek), Rhashan Stone (Apple Tree Yard, Agatha Raisin), John Finnemore (That Mitchell and Webb Look) and newcomers Rio Chambers and Rhianna Merralls. The executive producers are Sky’s Jon Mountague and Roughcut’s Ash Atalla. Alex Smith is the series producer, while Chris Cottam is the director.
