Netflix’s original horror comedy series Santa Clarita Diet has been picked up for the second season, the streaming service announced on Wednesday. Thirteen episodes have been ordered for the show’s second season, which is set to premiere in 2018.
Santa Clarita Diet follows Joel and Sheila, husband and wife realtors leading vaguely discontented lives in the L.A. suburb of Santa Clarita with their teenaged daughter Abby. That is until Sheila goes through a dramatic change sending their lives down a road of death and destruction…but in a good way.
The comedy series is produced by Kapital Entertainment and stars Drew Barrymore (Blended), Timothy Olyphant (Justified), Liv Hewson (The Code) and Skylar Gisondo (Once Upon A Time). Showrunner Victor Fresco, Drew Barrymore, Timothy Olyphant, Aaron Kaplan, Tracy Katsky, Chris Miller and Ember Truesdell are executive producers on the series.
The second season pick-up, which was announced in a video posted to YouTube (check it out below), comes nearly two months after Santa Clarita Diet debuted. It joins a wide-range of originals on the streaming service’s 2018 slate, including Marvel miniseries The Defenders, Orange Is The New Black, Narcos and One Day At A Time. As with the vast majority of Netflix originals, Santa Clarita Diet airs on this side of the pond on Netflix UK.
