MTV UK has renewed their local adaptation of the Teen Mom format, Teen Mom UK, for a second season, TVWise has learned. Eight episodes have been ordered for the show’s second season, which is expected to air on the channel later this year.
Commissioned as part of VIMN’s strategy of producing local versions of their hit formats, Teen Mom UK first launched on MTV UK last November and proved to be a strong performer for the channel. In consolidated figures, the series improved on the previous ratings records for the franchise by 9%.
“The huge success of Teen Mom UK has served to strengthen MTV UK’s long track record for re-versioning US hits to appeal to a local audience”, said Jill Offman, Managing-Director, MTV UK. “We’re so excited to be bringing the show back for a second series and will continue to capture all the joys and challenges that come with young motherhood”.
Teen Mom UK is produced for MTV UK by Manchester-based production house True North in partnership with charities Brook, Gingerbread and Little Lullaby. The show’s second season was commissioned by MTV UK and Comedy Central UK Managing Director Jill Offman, VIMN’s Vice President Of Programming Louise Holmes and Senior Director of Programming Kelly Bradshaw.
