More4 Acquires UK Rights To 'The Good Wife' Spin-Off 'The Good Fight' – TVWise

The Good Fight is coming to the UK. Channel 4’s digi-net More4 has closed a deal with CBS Studios International to acquire the exclusive first run UK broadcast rights to The Good Wife spin-off, TVWise has learned. The series is set to premiere on More4 this Spring.
The Good Fight picks up one year after the events of the The Good Wife. An enormous financial scam has destroyed the reputation of a young lawyer, Maia, while simultaneously wiping out her mentor Diane Lockhart’s savings. Forced out of Lockhart & Lee, they join Lucca Quinn at one of Chicago’s pre-eminent law firms. The drama series is produced by CBS Television Studios and stars Christine Baranski, Cush Jumbo, Rose Leslie, Delroy Lindo, Erica Tazel, Sarah Steele, Justin Bartha, Paul Guilfoyle and Bernadette Peters.
More4, who aired all seven seasons of The Good Wife, had long been expected to make a strong play for the show, especially considering the strong ratings performance of The Good Wife. Back in January TVWise revealed that the show would either land on the channel or Netflix UK, who were considering making a late play. TVWise later reported that CBS Studios International had closed a UK deal for The Good Fight, but at the time it was not immediately clear who the buyer was.
“This is the first original series from our digital subscription video on-demand and live streaming service, CBS All Access, a platform that provides us with yet another opportunity to license our world-class, premium programming to the international marketplace,” said Stephen Tague, SVP Europe, CBS Studios International. “‘The Good Wife’ has been a ratings success for More4, so we are pleased for loyal fans of the series that the spin-off has found its U.K. home here.”
